1) Medical insurance:
Under the regulations of the Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration Canada, all foreign student must take out medical and hospitalization insurance valid in Canada and for himself/ herself and for all dependents who accompany him/her. This medical insurance plan should cover medical, hospital, prescription medications and sometimes the cost of dental care as well as eyeglasses.
2) Home insurance:
As a tenant, you must carry insurance covering the risk of fire, water damage… It is also strongly recommended to take out belongings insurance.
3) Car insurance:
A driver is obliged to have such insurance before to drive in Canada.
Note that it is generally cheaper to take combined insurance with the same insurance company.
